John Fogerty: The Man, The Myth, The Legend

Fogerty Facts:
  • John's early career began with his brother's band "Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets", later called "The Golligwogs"
  • He was almost drafted in 1966 but managed to avoid the draft by joining the United States Army Reserve
  • In 1973 he began a solo career, originally under the name of "The Blue Ridge Rangers." He played all the instruments in his songs
  • In 1976 he finished an album called "Hoodoo" which was rejected by Asylum Records, and Fogerty agreed that it was not his best work
  • Fogerty is considered by some to be a perfectionist, often destroying master tapes that were never published or he did not like
  • John considered 1976-1984 to be a period in his life where he couldn't write music
  • His career picked up in 1985 with his hit single "Centerfield"
  • October 2, 2007: Fogerty released the hit album "Revival" which was nominated for an Emmy but he lost to the Foo Fighters
  • On August 31, 2009 he released yet another album called "The Blue Ride Rangers Rides Again"
